Solar Energy Harvesting Quantum Dots in Glass for Hydrogen Generation

    About

    Summary

A First Class Hons degree holder in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics may be interested in applying for a PhD project in the area of the use of quantum dot containing glass for photocatalytic reaction and production of hydrogen. The research will involve understanding solar radiation interaction with greenhouse gases and photocatalytic decomposition. Knowledge of spectroscopy and energy transfer and electrochemical dissociation may be beneficial.

    Full description

The research will offer you the opportunity for training in a range of chemistry, physics of radiation harvesting, chemical engineering and materials science. You will learn to characterise materials, spectroscopy of sunlight interaction with Q-dot materials in glass and develop photochemical analytical tools for characterising the generation of hydrogen gas.
