    About

    You can qualify for a Postgraduate Certificate by completing modules totalling 60 credits, the Postgraduate Diploma by completing 120 credits and the full MCh award includes a dissertation / project and is 180 credits.

    This course will prepare you to meet the challenges of current and future urologic medicine and surgery. This surgical field is constantly evolving with technology being the main driver. Improvements have been made through lasers, optics, gadgets and robotics. Regenerative medicine is fast evolving in urology. Even though many medical students may not have had a urology placement during their training, the specialty is very much sought after. Getting into urological training is very competitive. The MCh in Surgery (Urology) is significantly valuable not only to increase your professional knowledge and skills but also to help you reach your goals of becoming a Consultant. It provides a platform for further advancement of your scientific knowledge, innovative and forward thinking, career progression and camaraderie with fellow students.

    Entry Requirements

    Bachelor degree For programmes requiring a 2:1: 
    A final grade of at least Very good/76% or a GPA of 3.0/4.0 For programmes requiring a 2:2: 
    A final grade of at least Very good/76% or a GPA of 3.0/4.0

    English Program Requirements

    All applicants for undergraduate programmes will need a minimum English level of IELTS or equivalent 6.0 overall, with no less than 6.0 in writing and no less than 5.5 in all other bands. Some programmes require 6.5/7.0 – please contact the International Office if you are unsure of your course requirement.

    For postgraduate entry all applicants will need a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in writing and no less than 5.5 in all other bands or equivalent. Some courses have a higher requirement – please contact the International Office if you are unsure of your course requirement.

    For International Foundation entry all applicants will need a minimum of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent, with no less than 5.0 in writing and no less than 4.0 in all other bands.

    If you have taken an IGCSE exam in English and have a Grade C, this will also usually be acceptable for most undergraduate courses.

    We are also able to consider some non-UK English qualifications for entry. The International Admissions Team will advise if they are able to accept your English language qualification once you have applied.

    Completion of this course will not only give you a MCh in a surgical pathway that will aid your career progression, but it will highly enhance your prospects of employment. You will gain the knowledge and skills that few trainee doctors will possess and it will place you at the forefront of technology and science. You will be able to demonstrate and share unique skills with colleagues for the benefit of excellent patient care and be a source of inspiration and innovation. These skills will be highly sought after. This will advantage you, whether you remain in your current place of employment whilst undertaking this course or whether you will be applying for a post on completion in the UK or abroad. As well as giving you a very competitive and enhanced surgical training portfolio, gaining this MCh will enable you to continue your post graduate medical education at a higher level such as an MD or PhD if you wish to in the future.
