Theology and Religion at Birmingham lays the foundation for deep exploration of religions and spirituality. You’ll gain the knowledge and critical skills to work across faiths to transform communities .Get ready for a career where empathising with different points of view is crucial.
Design your own degree pathway based on your interests and choose from a wide range of modules. This course offers teaching on a variety of religions based on the expertise of our staff, such as Jainism, Islam, Sikhism, and Christianity. At Birmingham, we provide focussed opportunities to study historical traditions, theologies, rituals and practices, contemporary spiritualities, world religions, religious texts, politics, histories and ethical issues.
Course structure
The course runs over 12 months full-time. You can also study this programme on a part-time basis.
September - December (11 weeks)
Full-time students normally take three modules per term in the first two terms.
There are two hours of seminar time per module per week, and an emphasis on guided independent learning.
One-third of your degree is your dissertation. You begin planning and submit a proposal for your dissertation during term one.
