    The Level 4 Higher National Certificate in International Travel and Tourism Management offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through the selection of optional units across a range of occupational sectors at Level 4. This effectively builds underpinning core skills while preparing the student for subject specialisation at Level 5. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios. At Level 4 students develop a broad knowledge and awareness of key aspects of travel and tourism through five core units, which include one unit assessed by a Pearson-set assignment. The units are: ● The Contemporary Travel and Tourism Industry ● Managing the Customer Experience ● Professional Identity and Practice ● The Travel and Tourism Business Toolkit ● Leadership and Management for Service Industries (Pearson-set unit). The Centre can also choose three further optional units at Level 4 from the following: ● Managing Aviation Services ● Managing Conference and Events ● Visitor Attraction Management ● Online Travel Management ● Tour Operations Management ● Corporate Travel Management ● Passenger Transport Services On successful completion of the Level 5 Higher National Diploma, students can develop their careers in the travel and tourism sector through: ● Entering employment ● Continuing existing employment ● Linking with the appropriate Professional Body ● Committing to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) ● Progressing to university. Learners may wish to progress to a degree course in which case entry to stage year 2 or 3 may be possible. Learners should always check the entry requirements for degree programmes at specific Higher Education providers. The Level 5 Higher National Diploma is recognised by Higher Education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant Travel & tourism -related courses, for example: ● BA (Hons) in International Travel and Tourism ● BA (Hons) in Aviation Management ● BA (Hons) in Tourism Management ● BA (Hons) in Museum and Heritage Studies The skills offered as part of the Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma can provide graduates with the opportunity to work in many different areas of Travel & tourism.     • Academic requirements*: o A minimum of 2 A Levels o Foundation Diploma o BTEC National Extended Diploma/Diploma o Access to Higher Education Diploma o Level 3 NVQ or other work based qualification * Mature students with relevant experience may also be considered with other relevant qualifications or work/industry experience that shows knowledge of and commitment to the course. You will need to demonstrate an ability to study at a Higher Education level. Applications for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) are welcomed by the Programme team. Students should consult the Programme Leader if they wish to claim such recognition. • You will need to provide a satisfactory reference. • All applicants will additionally require GCSE English at Grade C or equivalent. Mathematics at GCSE Grade C or equivalent will also be desirable. • Non-native English speakers who have not undertaken their final two years of schooling in English, must be able to demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to the levels identified below, before being recruited to the programme: o Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2 o PTE 51 o IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5 or equivalent
