About
The LL.M. in U.S., International, and Transnational Law offers flexibility in the choice of law courses as well as the opportunity to conduct independent research. Students enrolled in the program attend courses and seminars along with J.D. students and can take advantage of Chicago-Kents cutting-edge expertise in areas such as information technology law, e-commerce, and financial services law.
Electives include International Law, Comparative Law, International Business Transactions, International Trade Law, European Union Law, International Aspects of Intellectual Property, International Human Rights, and Immigration Law.

Requirements
Entry Requirements
Foreign attorneys and law students are welcome to apply. The LL.M. Program in U.S., International, and Transnational Law is not open to attorneys holding a J.D. degree from an American law school.
English Program Requirements
International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:
- Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
- Graduates of U.S. high schools
- Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION
If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
Career
Attorneys who focus on international and comparative law often work in-house at corporations or are part of law firms. Many are also employed by government agencies. Those interested in public interest law often focus on international criminal law, environmental law, and human rights law.
