Water and Soil Resources

The Water and Soil Resources bachelor's degree in Environmental Science (B.S.E.S.) at the University of Georgia utilizes biology, ecology, chemistry, and the physical sciences to study the conservation, rehabilitation, and inventory of water and soil.

The curriculum is science-based, including courses in soil hydrology, microbiology, and physics; crop physiology; field site hydrochemistry; nutrient efficiency; spatial analysis; resource economics; and others.

Environmental scientists are in high demand in various public agencies (e.g. the Environmental Protection Agency and Natural Resource Conservation Service); environmental control entities (e.g. disposal of industrial and agricultural wastes, water pollution authorities, and soil conservation); firms and private companies (e.g. international seed and agricultural chemical companies, quality control, land reclaiming, and research); and self-employed consulting.
