    About

    The objective of the Wirtschaftsmathematik / Business Mathematics master's program is to enrich and to expand the specialized competencies acquired in the Wirtschaftsmathematik / Business Mathematics bachelor's program. In addition to continuing courses in Mathematics, Business Mathematics and Computer Science, you are introduced to independent scientific work in the master's program. You will study current research literature and will process a problem from Business Mathematics in the master's thesis.

    Entry Requirements

    Required university degree Certification of a degree from a specific "Business Mathematics" bachelor's program or certification of a degree from a subject-relevant bachelor's program in the field of “Mathematics” or certification of a comparable domestic or foreign qualifying university degree.

    In addition to the bachelor in the Business Mathematics or Mathematics program, a teaching degree for secondary schools (1st state examination or master's) with the subject of Mathematics also qualifies for admission. A bachelor's in another discipline qualifies for admission if at least 90 credit points have been completed in modules in which competencies at the level of the basic and required modules of the Marburg Bachelor's program in Business Mathematics have been acquired.

    The qualifying university degree must be obtained with an overall assessment of 7.9 grade points according to § 28 of the General Terms or better.

    The examination board can make admission contingent on additional academic performances and/or examination performances of 30 CP at maximum being produced. In this case, the program can be extended accordingly.

    English Program Requirements

    The German Language Examination for University Entrance (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang - DSH), level DSH-2, must be passed before beginning the course of study. Other language certifications which are equivalent to the level DSH 2 can be found in theRahmenordnung über Deutsche Sprachprüfungen für das Studium an deutschen Hochschulen.

    • TestDaF certificate with at least 4 points in all examination sections
    • Assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung) at preparatory college (Studienkolleg) with "Prüfungsteil Deutsch" passed
    • German language diploma from the Education Ministry Conference – Second Level (DSD II) with C1 in all examination sections

    How to Apply

    1. Preparation phase

    1. Learn about program offerings and decide what you would like to study.
    2. Examine whether you meet the admission requirements for your program
    3. Make certified copies of your certificates and have translations of them created. Never send your original certificate with your application. You can find information on who may provide certification and translation. There are additional provisions for.
    4. Learn whether you need a , which documents you must submit to the embassy and how long it takes until you get an appointment there.

    2. The application for a first semester

    1. On our homepage, choose the program for which you would like to apply. At the bottom of the website, you are forwarded to the applicant portal. Alternatively, you can also go to the uni-assist homepage.
    2. Register at uni-assist and answer the questions.
    3. Create an application for the Philipps University Marburg.
    4. Print and sign the application.
    5. Pay any processing fee that is due.
    6. Send all application documents to uni-assist before the application deadline expires. We recommend applying six weeks before the deadline period ends.

    3. After submitting the application

    1. You will receive a message by email as to whether your application was complete. If documentation is missing, you can submit it after the fact, before the application deadline. If your application is complete and your certificate entitles you for the desired program, then uni-assist will forward your documents to Uni Marburg electronically.
    2. The Philipps University Marburg carries out the respective admissions process.
    3. If you are granted a university place, you will receive a letter of acceptance by postal mail. In addition, your account information for our Marvin portal will also be sent to you by email.
    4. No later than now, you should take care of applying for a visa.
    5. Begin looking for housing.
    6. The letter of acceptance will describe the documents you must send to us for registration. You can send these either from abroad or once you are in Germany. It is important that you comply with the deadline.

    4. Once you have arrived in Germany

    1. Sign a lease agreement, open a bank account, obtain health insurance, register your place of address, apply for permit of residence from the Ausländerbehörde (Foreigners' Office). If you don't wish to do that by yourself, participate in the International Office's orientation week.
    2. You may have to participate in the DSH (German examination) shortly before the start of the semester.
