    About

    Highlights

    • Gain a deep understanding of climate science principles in our new Bachelor of Science (Climate Science) degree.
    • Develop problem-solving skills through practical, research, and technical approaches tailored to complex climate-related challenges.
    • Acquire critical data analysis abilities using scientific methodologies.
    • Hone your communication skills to effectively convey scientific data to diverse audiences and demonstrate ethical behaviour.

Embarking on a journey into climate science is more vital than ever. Our planet faces unprecedented challenges and Australia is a climate hotspot with diverse landscapes—from the Great Barrier Reef to the arid outback. By studying climate science here, you’ll engage with real-world scenarios: heatwaves with record-high temperatures, longer fire seasons and extreme fire danger days, reduced average rainfall and prolonged droughts, increased heavy rainfall events, and coastal storm surge inundation and erosion. These climate hazards will impact Australia's social cohesion, human health and wellbeing, environment, infrastructure and economy (National Climate Risk Assessment),

By studying climate science, you’ll learn how human actions impact our environment and how we can mitigate and adapt to these changes. Your knowledge will drive innovative solutions, influence policies, and empower communities. Whether you’re passionate about renewable energy, conservation, or climate justice, your contribution matters.

This course delivers a strong understanding of climate science. It combines it with relevant knowledge about ocean-atmosphere interaction, insight into global change, sustainability, air and water quality and climate change mitigation measures. This combination is ideally suited to equip you with the knowledge required to tackle the mounting challenges in sea level change mitigation, local climate adaptation, sustainable resource management and coastal ocean climate mitigation.
