About
Illinois Techs Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering/Master of Science in Biology for the Health Professions accelerated master's degree program allows students the unique opportunity to pursue advanced studies in biology to improve the competitiveness for students looking to enter medical, dental, pharmaceutical, or optometry school while completing both degrees in as few as five years.
Students will learn to apply the principles and tools of traditional engineering fields with chemical, physical, and biological sciences, specifically those used to acquire advanced training in biology that will prove beneficial within health professions. This program provides the skills, knowledge, and experiences to open doors to career opportunities.
Coursework for this degree program may include biochemistry, molecular and developmental biology, and biostatistics.

Requirements
Entry Requirements
Students applying to the Accelerated Masters Program must have completed at least 60 credit hours with at least one full semester (12 credit hours) of applicable undergraduate study at the university.
Students must be at least one full semester (12 credit hours) away from undergraduate degree completion in order to apply.
Applicants are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; however, please consult individual departments for specific minimum GPA requirements.
English Program Requirements
International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:
- Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
- Graduates of U.S. high schools
- Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION
If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
