    About

    The Level 2 Diploma Veterinary Care Assistant leads to a nationally recognised City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma, takes one year and will provide you with an introduction to the principles of animal nursing and care.

    This course is also available to study by online distance learning, for those already working in a relevant position.

    If you're looking to pursue a career as a veterinary assistant this is an ideal course.

    In this course you will cover:

    • an introduction to general animal nursing
    • anatomy
    • assisting with anaesthesia
    • surgical nursing
    • radiograph

    In addition the course includes core skills certification and a work placement in a veterinary practice for two days a week.

    It will provide you with the essential practical experience and knowledge you need to ensure you are well prepared for work as an assistant in a veterinary practice, as well as for further study.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    You'll be expected to have a minimum of 4 National 5s (A-C) (preferably English, Maths and a science - equivalent qualifications will be considered).

    A minimum of two weeks work experience in an animal related environment with experience in a veterinary practice giving a distinct advantage.

    For distance learning, you must be employed in a veterinary practice.
