Learn the skills needed to enter a career as a cybersecurity engineer, analyst, or administrator with this professional certificate program.
The professional certificate in Cyber Security Technologies is awarded after completing both the Cyber Security Technologies and Network+ Certification Training courses, in addition to at least one elective. Most often these courses can be successfully completed in one year or less.
Core coursework covers a wide range of cybersecurity topics including evolving data network technologies, protocols, network components, and the networks that use them, focusing on the internet and related local area networks (LANs), as well as attack mechanisms, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures. Hands-on projects and discussions on current and future computer technologies are incorporated into the coursework.

Entry Requirements
Participants must have knowledge of PC hardware and software, knowledge of operating systems, and knowledge of file and directory concepts for acceptance into the professional certificate in Cyber Security Technologies. An additional question-and-answer session regarding prerequisite knowledge may be required for admission. Contact the certificate program manager and adviser for more information.
English Program Requirements
International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:
- Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
- Graduates of U.S. high schools
- Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION
If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
