Course Summary
Design for Performance BA (Hons) is a cross-disciplinary course which allows you to explore and then specialise in, set and costume design, lighting design (like you see at live events, festivals and performances) or designing assets for gaming or virtual reality experiences. Design is integral in all parts of live or virtual performances, from the projections on Buckingham Palace during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, to the stages used on the West End.
This course gives you the opportunity to work collaboratively on group projects exploring a wide range of design techniques and processes to develop your skills and understand more about the career paths you are interested in. Demand for theatre and live event designers has surged as people return to live experiences and making memories in the post pandemic world of entertainment, whilst the huge growth in the use of mixed reality, immersive experiences and motion capture technology has created demand in industry for graduates with experience of the facilities we have on campus.
You will experience cross-disciplinary learning and be taught by a wide range of subject experts. You will build an understanding of how designers fit in to the wider context of a project team, and develop your communication and collaboration skills, to ensure that the design process from concept to delivery is as smooth as possible
