About

The well-trained engineer, scientist, or technician must be able to make correct graphical representations of engineering structures, designs, and data relationships. To help meet this need, the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering offers a Certificate in Engineering Graphics.

Illinois Techs Master of Engineering in Energy Systems, Energy Transmission, and Markets Track provides student with in-depth knowledge of power engineering and the managerial skills needed to advance within the industry.

Course topics include hybrid vehicle drives, power market operations, and power system transaction management. Electives are available in power market economics security, deregulated power systems, and microgrid design and operation.

Two additional specialty tracksâ€”energy conservation and buildings, and energy generation and sustainabilityâ€”are also taught by faculty who have set the bar in energy systems and will empower students to become the next energy pioneers.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Admissions requirements ensure that incoming students are well-prepared and qualified to succeed in their chosen program. Prospective students must review each program of interest to determine whether they meet admissions requirements as outlined in the course bulletin.

English Program Requirements

International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:

Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
Graduates of U.S. high schools
Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.

CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
