    European Master's Programme in Language and Communication Technologies (LCT)

    About

    The LCT Master's programme has been successfully implemented since 2006, being funding by the Erasmus Mundus Programme from 2007 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2017. A third funding period is currently being implemented, with Erasmus Mundus scholarships being awarded annually. Intake 2021: Erasmus Mundus scholarships will be awarded for European and non-European applicants. Students study for a total of four semesters at two different EU universities. Partners are: Saarland University, Germany, (coordinator) University of Lorraine, France Charles University, Czech Republic University of Malta University of Trento, Italy University of Groningen, Netherlands University of the Basque Country, Spain The Master's programme in Language and Communication Technologies (LCT) consists of core modules and specialised modules in Language Technologies (LT) and Computer Science (CS), a project and a Master's thesis, for a total of 120 ECTS credits. The specialised modules represent 24 ECTS credits, of which at least four credits should be in LT and four in CS. These modules are based on the specific strengths in research and teaching of the partner institutions and thus vary from partner to partner. Of the 24 specialised module ECTS credits, 15 may be devoted to a project. The Master's thesis accounts for 30 ECTS credit points. 60 credits are to be completed at each partner university.

    Entry Requirements

    1) A personal statement written in English must be added to the online application. The statement should be 2,500 characters at most, focusing on: your reasons for applying your areas of interest in relation to the various disciplines that contribute to the methods of language and communication technologies (language technology, computational and theoretical linguistics, and computer science) your preferences for the host and partner universities 2) a current curriculum vitae (CV) written in English 3) certified copies of: your Bachelor's degree certificates attesting to the fulfilment of the language requirements 4) transcript of academic records, if applicable, translated into English 5) letters of recommendation written in English - referees should upload the letters directly to the application database or send them securely sealed by mail
