About

Processing of sensory information is the basis of our interaction with the outside world and sensory deficits remain a major concern and serious burden for public health. Research and training in this programme address cellular mechanisms of normal and impaired sensory transduction, encoding, decoding and integration of sensory information, plasticity of sensory and motor function, and sensorimotor transformation. Research combines physiological and computational approaches with molecular strategies for investigating cellular mechanisms in the context of sensory and motor systems. The programme is closely affiliated with the Collaborative Research Centre 889 (Cellular mechanisms of sensory processing: http://sfb889.uni-goettingen.de) and is also connected to the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience and the Bernstein Focus for Neurotechnology.
