    Overview

    Advance your career and gain skills in leadership, crisis communication and risk management, capable of operating in unpredictable environments and coordinating multi-agency responses. You will explore current and emerging trends and national and international approaches, and expand your knowledge and skills to apply to the various phases of managing emergencies and disasters.

    The Graduate Diploma of Emergency and Disaster Management recognises the changing nature of emergency and disaster management in Australia and the important role research and evidence-based practice plays in underpinning contemporary perspectives and approaches.

    During this course, you will draw on the interdisciplinary nature of emergency and disaster management to explore current and emerging trends and national and international approaches, as well as the key concepts and perspectives that underpin contemporary practice. You will gain skills in leadership, crisis communication and risk management, and learn to operate in unpredictable environments. You will study with students from a broad range of disciplines, expand your knowledge and skills and learn to apply this to various phases of managing emergencies and disasters.

    This course is designed for people working in emergency service agencies, professionals working in private, government, non-government and community-based organisations who play a role in emergency and disaster management, and those with a personal or professional interest in the field.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    The entry requirements to undertake a research higher degree is different from a postgraduate coursework. In addition to meeting the academic entry requirements, you must select your research area of interest as well as find your research supervisor.
