    The Master of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering will prepare you for a career in industrial research and development, or future careers in academia. Advance your knowledge in the field through post-baccalaureate coursework and state-of-the-art research.

    The Master of Engineering in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering program is designed to produce well-trained professionals and aimed at broadening student potential, enhancing technical versatility, and providing the opportunity for changes in career paths.

    Mechanical and aerospace engineering faculty and graduate students are making significant contributions to the profession, working in areas of high-impact innovation including robotics, manned and unmanned aircrafts and spacecrafts, driverless cars, biomedical devices, batteries, refrigeration systems, solar and wind energy, turbomachinery, and more.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA: 3.0/4.0

    Minimum GRE scores: 300 (quantitative + verbal), 3.0 (analytical writing)

    Minimum TOEFL scores: 80/550 (internet-based/paper-based test scores)

    English Program Requirements

    International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:

    • Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
    • Graduates of U.S. high schools
    • Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.

    CONDITIONAL ADMISSION

    If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
