About

This Honours program provides training in probability and statistics with a solid mathematical core, and basic training in computing. It prepares you for graduate school in probability, statistics, or data science.

As s student in this flexible program, you can focus on probability, mathematical statistics, applied statistics, actuarial science and finance, or data science. Once you graduate, you can pursue the A.Stat professional accreditation from the Statistical Society of Canada, which is regarded as the entry level requirement for a Statistician practicing in Canada.

Applicants are reviewed on their high school transcript with particular emphasis on yearly averages and results in prerequisite subjects (prerequisite subjects must have been completed during the last two years of high school).

Bologna-signatory countries

McGill welcomes qualified applicants from throughout Europe, including from schools in Bologna signatory countries. Applicants will be considered for admission into McGill degree programs of similar duration as those at comparable, research-intensive universities in Europe. Accordingly, qualified applicants to the faculties of Arts, Education, and Management at McGill, with a Bologna-compliant diploma that leads to a three-year undergraduate program in Europe, will be admissible to a three-year program at McGill. Students in Management will be required to complete additional mathematics coursework.
