    About

    Joint Program

    The 3+2 program is an opportunity to earn a B.S. in Environmental Science from UNCW and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from North Carolina State University in five years.

    Dual Campus Experience

    You will attend in-person classes at UNCW. Students may take 1-2 engineering courses via live video conference with NC State in the sophomore year but will still convene on UNCW's campus to participate.

    You must finish the UNCW phase of study with an overall GPA of at least 3.25, earn at least a 2.00 overall GPA in any NCSU distance education courses taken, and have at least a 2.50 GPA in the last two calculus courses attempted to meet NCSU's transfer admission requirements. You will be advised jointly by the Department of Environmental Sciences and the director of the Engineering Program at UNCW to assure completion of the correct requirements for both programs.

    Specialize in the environmental aspects of physical or biological science

    Learn the fundamentals of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science related to environmental questions

    Understand the impact of science and technology on society, and contribute to the solution of environmental problems

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    • Completed online application.
      • Fall Deadline: April 1
      • Spring Deadline: October 15
    • Non-refundable $80 application fee (check or money order in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank, payable to UNCW).
    • Official high school (secondary school) transcript, translated into English (translation must be certified).
    • Translated transcripts from institutions attended beyond secondary school.
      • If the applicant wishes to receive academic credit, these transcripts (unless from a U.S. institution) must be evaluated by an accredited credential evaluation service. The applicant must choose a company that belongs to the National Association of Credential Evaluators (NACES).
    • TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, or Pearson Test of English score unless:
      • English is applicant's native language.
      • Applicant has completed 2 college-level courses in English composition at a U.S. college or university with a grade of B or higher.
      • A student successfully completes Level 4 in UNCW's ESL program.
