    Learn to manage student emotional and behavioural needs

    This program will allow you to examine a range of evidence-based approaches to managing student emotional and behavioural needs. You’ll also explore how to implement behaviour change programs.

    Study anytime, anywhere with our flexible learning options to study at a time and pace that works for you. This course is a pathway to the Master of Special and Inclusive Education.

    It will prepare you to successfully meet the needs of children and young people with emotional and/or behavioural needs in education settings. Learn to create supportive learning environments, and enhance your expertise in disability and additional needs through implementation of evidence-based practices and pedagogy. Whether you are in education or allied health, this program will enhance your work in teaching and learning, support, curriculum, and working with families.

    what you will study

    The four core courses will support your skill development across a range of disability support areas. These include:

    • Assessment, Programming and Intervention in Behaviour Problems,
    • Whole School Approaches to Supporting Student Behaviour,
    • Using Resources in Behaviour Problems,
    • Introduction to Challenging Behaviour and Positive Support.

    Should you choose to continue your studies, completion of this program articulates as half of the Master of Special and Inclusive Education, with a specialisation in Emotional Disturbance/Behavioural Problems.

    Upon completion, qualified educators will be equipped with skills and knowledge to assess student needs, abilities, and address identified learning difficulties or challenge-specific areas. Career pathways include inclusive and specialist education settings or early childhood intervention services.

    For graduates with a prior degree in an allied health related field – you can be part of a brighter future in community and/or disability support services.
